With advancements in medical technology and a deeper understanding of women’s health needs, cervical cancer screening has never been more accessible, comfortable, or important.
We understand that your past experiences with cervical cancer screening may not have been ideal. In many healthcare settings, this crucial procedure is often treated as a routine task rather than an important aspect of your overall health. You may have faced rushed appointments, minimal explanations, or long waits for results.
That’s why we’ve reimagined the cervical cancer screening experience at The Menopause Clinic. We believe that every aspect of your healthcare should be thorough, comfortable, and tailored to your needs. Our approach ensures that you’re fully informed, comfortable, and empowered throughout the process.

Our cervical cancer screening is a quick, simple test that involves collecting a small sample of cells from your cervix. It’s the most effective way to detect cervical cancer in its early, most treatable stages. The procedure typically takes just a few minutes and is performed right in our clinic. Here is what you can expect:
- A comfortable, private environment
- Clear explanation of each step of the procedure
- Gentle technique to minimize discomfort
- Quick turnaround time for results
- Thorough discussion of your results and any next steps
No Referral Needed
You don’t need a referral to schedule your cervical cancer screening at our clinic. We believe in making preventive care as accessible as possible.
Regular screening is recommended for all women between the ages of 25 and 69, with the frequency depending on your age and health history. However, individual needs may vary, and we’re here to help you determine the best screening schedule for you.

Your Screening Questions, Answered
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get a cervical cancer screening?
The frequency of cervical cancer screenings depends on your age and health history. Generally:
- Ages 21-24: Optional screening, every three years if chosen
- Ages 25-29: Initiate routine screening, every three years
- Ages 30-69: Routine screening, every three years
- Ages 70 and above: Screen if unscreened/under-screened (i.e., not screened regularly at three year intervals). Continue screening until three consecutive negative Pap tests (collected at least one year apart) within 10 years
However, your healthcare provider may recommend a different schedule based on your individual risk factors. The evidence suggests that the benefit is likely greater than harm for ages 25-69, with strong evidence for ages 30-69.
For ages 70 and above, there is less evidence, but it’s biologically plausible that the risk of disease is high/continuing. Screening may reduce morbidity and mortality in this age group.
Is the cervical cancer screening procedure painful?
How long does it take to get the results of my screening?
At The Menopause Clinic, we understand the importance of timely results. Typically, you can expect to receive your cervical cancer screening results within 1-2 weeks. We’ll contact you promptly with any abnormal results and discuss any necessary follow-up steps. If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
What's the difference between a Pap smear and HPV testing?
While both are part of cervical cancer screening, they test for different things:
- Pap smear: Examines cervical cells for abnormal changes that could potentially develop into cancer.
- HPV test: Detects the presence of human papillomavirus, which can cause cell changes leading to cervical cancer.
