Personalized Genetic Insights

NOT ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL

Nutrigenomix offers genetic testing that can provide additional information about how inherited genetic differences may influence aspects of nutrition, health, and medication response. This can add another layer of insight when we're building a plan that's truly specific to you, rather than relying on general guidelines alone.

Testing is completed once, as your genetic information does not change over time — giving your care team a resource to reference going forward, whether that's shaping today's recommendations or informing decisions further down the road.

Nutrigenomix testing is available as a private, self-pay service, and your clinician can help you decide whether it's a meaningful addition to your care.

Two Types Of Testing

Nutrigenomix offers two types of genetic testing, each designed to answer a different question:

Your Goals. Your Plan. Your Wellness.

NUTRIGENETIC TESTING

PHARMACOGENETIC TESTING

Nutrigenetic testing examines genetic variants associated with nutrition and related health characteristics — including nutrient metabolism, dietary response, cardiometabolic health, weight and body composition, food intolerances and sensitivities, and exercise and physical performance.

Results are not used as a diagnosis, but as an additional layer of information to help inform individualized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations alongside your medical history and health goals.

Pharmacogenetic testing examines genetic variants that may influence how an individual responds to or metabolizes certain medications, helping healthcare providers better understand potential differences in medication response.

It does not determine which medication a patient should or should not take on its own - results are interpreted alongside your medical history, current medications, and clinical indication by a qualified healthcare professional.

What This Testing Can And Can't Tell You

Genetic testing can add valuable insight, but it isn't a complete answer on its own. Here's what it can offer - and where it fits alongside the rest of your care.

NOT A DIAGNOSIS

Nutrigenetic results are not used as a diagnosis. Instead, they provide an additional layer of information that can help inform individualized nutrition and lifestyle recommendations alongside your medical history, health goals, and other clinical information.

SELECTED FOR YOU

Testing is selected according to your individual health concerns, goals, and the clinical question being investigated.

SELF-PAY, NOT AHS-COVERED

Third-party specialized testing is generally not covered by Alberta Health and is offered on a self-pay basis. Pricing varies according to the laboratory and test selected.
